CAT ABANDONED BY PRESIDENT BUSH FOUND IN HOLLYWOOD

A tabby cat which was discarded by George W. Bush when he took up the reins of government ran away -- but was found three weeks later strolling along the corridor of a Hollywood studio.

Ernie the Cat was barred from moving into the White House with America's first family because of fears he would claw furniture. Ernie has six toes on his front feet.

The orange and white tabby was left in Los Angeles with Brad Freeman, a Bush fundraiser.

Ernie had been fitted with plastic claw covers at President Bush's request. Three weeks after America's Almost-First Cat went missing, a night watchman spotted the tabby at the studio. He was in ragged shape and his custom-fitted toe caps had been pulled off.

He was returned to the Freeman house.
